Tonight is the last Senate meeting for the Spring semester of 2010! To end on a great note, the senate will be touring the new residence halls (currently called Jackrabbit Village) and hearing from three open forum speakers! The senators have been assigned to senate committees and task forces and work has begun...
The SDSU administration has been hard at work lately, making sure things are prepared for next semester. Tailgating, Campus Committees and various other items have been the subject of recent meetings. We're all gearing up for a relaxing summer, but full of progress and work for the student.s

Board of Regents and so much more!
Well, last week was awfully entertaining and exciting!
10 senators as well as Brett and I attended the Board of Regents meeting in Aberdeen. It was an eye opening experience and was a great opportunity to get to know the administration a little bit better.
There were many issues discussed from all universities. Funding was at the source of most of the business and all are concerned about how to come back from the budget cut on higher education from the legislative session. There will be another BOR meeting to strictly discuss the budget in Pierre on April 15.
As far as senate goes, we're currently trying to get things really into motion. Committee work will begin within the senate this week and the time has come for us to get our hands dirty and start making a difference on campus.
There are currently only three weeks left of this semester to make a difference and begin work on many projects for this upcoming senate term.

It's beginning to look a lot like progress...
Hello everyone!
The year has hardly begun and we're already swimming with things to do!
Tonight are the At Large senator interviews. We have 18 applicants interviewing for 12 spots! It should be a competitive and interesting night!
With the At Large senator interviews, the Board of Directors had to meet to decide how the interviews should be run. The Board of Directors (BOD) consists of one representative from each college as well as the president and vice president. The BOD representatives are chosen from the senators within the specific colleges during a college caucus. The representatives bring experience and thoughtful choices that represent the students in their colleges.
Next week, March 30, is the student federation meeting in Aberdeen. We'll connect with other student governments from around the state and speak with them about various issues facing all of our colleges. We'll also be voting on some positions for the Federation for the upcoming year.
The next day, March 31-April1, will be the Board of Regents (BOR) meeting in Aberdeen. We'll attend this meeting and voice our concerns for the students of SDSU.
Once we return on Thursday, it's Easter Break! We're all excited for another break from school and our busy schedules to be with family and friends.

A New Beginning
Hello Everyone!
Brett and I are SO excited about the election results. We're glad that the race was so close and that everyone got out and put forth their votes. It's so important to speak your mind and let your voice be heard, especially when the vote you're making depends on the future of your university. We're so excited to start working with the newly elected senators. At-large applications are still out and those interviews won't happen until March 22, but we're excited to begin our work with the already elected senators. Through the help of senate, administration, board of regents and the students of SDSU, we know that great things can happen on our campus.
We've decided that we want this year to be the best we can make it. We want to inspire and make a difference on campus. We want to get students involved and help them become aware of the issues that are going on on campus. We want students to understand the policies and procedures that the administration, board of regents and the students' association put forth that impact every lives of students.
Brett and I are starting this blog to document our year of leadership. We're documenting it for our own sakes, but also for the students, faculty and administration to see as well. We want open communication and close connections to be made this year. Like every leader, we want to inspire and change the world. We want to leave our mark and make positive changes that will change the future of our university. We want to be the change you wish to see- and we want to document that change along the way.
